"Brilliant sculpture. What a joy it must be to stand there as they resonate. The drone and the crescendo. Especially as you sync with them in those pulses. Feel it from the cavities of your skull to the depths of your spirit. The halls of eternity."

" 'Church' should be exactly this kind of experience... thanks!"

Context & Practical Information
What is the Lambdoma principle?
The Lambdoma is a mathematical matrix of whole-number ratios traditionally associated with Pythagorean harmonic theory. It describes relationships between tones through numerical proportions and can be understood as a bridge between sound, mathematics, and perception.
In Josef Baier’s sculpture, these relationships become audible and spatial, allowing visitors to experience harmonic structures directly through listening and interaction.

When will the Lambdoma album be released?
The recordings from the Lambdoma sessions are currently in post-production. Updates about the release, previews, and ways to support the project will be shared on the resources page and through the newsletter. Visit the Lambdoma Album Page.
Who is the Lambdoma experience suitable for?
The Lambdoma can be experienced by a wide audience — from concert visitors and art audiences to people interested in sound, science, and perception. It can function as an installation, performance instrument, or educational environment.
Who is involved in the Lambdoma project?
The Lambdoma sculpture was created by Austrian artist Josef Baier, whose work explores the relationship between form, sound, and harmonic structures.
Singer and musician Anna-Maria Hefele has been closely involved in performances, recordings, and artistic exploration of the instrument, bringing its sonic possibilities into a musical context.
The project also involves collaborating musicians, curators, and cultural institutions depending on the context of each presentation. Learn more about the artistic collaborators on the Project & Artists page.
Can I book the Lambdoma for an event or exhibition?
Yes. The Lambdoma can be presented at festivals, exhibitions, concerts, and cultural events as an installation, performance space, or workshop environment. Because of its size and technical requirements, each presentation involves detailed planning, including transport, setup, and spatial considerations.
Please visit Booking Section to discuss possibilities.
Where can I experience the Lambdoma without organizing an event?
A permanent Lambdoma installation can be experienced at the Pankratium — Haus des Staunens in Gmünd, Austria, an interactive museum dedicated to sound and perception.
Another Lambdoma by artist Josef Baier is occasionally presented at festivals and exhibitions. Information about upcoming installations and projects can be found on his website .
Updates about recordings, releases, and performances involving Anna-Maria Hefele are shared via the newsletter.
How large is the Lambdoma installation?
The sculpture consists of a large walk-in dome structure with hundreds of tuned aluminum tubes. It requires sufficient floor space, transport logistics, and professional setup. Detailed technical information is available upon request.
